We require your personal information to verify your identity and your qualifications to be included as a scientific expert in the Expert Roster. Your personal information will be used to understand how you may contribute to various public health related matters in an advisory capacity if and/or when expert advice in your area of expertise may be needed by PHAC.

Privacy statement

Why are we collecting demographic information and how will it be used?

We require your demographic information so that PHAC can consider equity, diversity, and inclusion (through collection, analysis and use of demographic information) to ensure that advice and scientific experts are representative of the diverse Canadian population.

Who has access to my information?

Personal information may be disclosed to internal PHAC divisions and branches responsible for public health decision-making, policy development, and program implementation. Disclosure is limited to authorized personnel with a need-to-know for carrying out their official duties related to the Expert Roster.

How can I update my information or opt-out of the Expert Roster?

You can send an email message to: ocsoengagement.bcsc@phac-aspc.gc.ca with your request to update your information, or to be removed from the Expert Roster at any time. PHAC will send annual messages to participants asking them to confirm their interest in remaining on the Expert Roster. Should PHAC not receive a response within one (1) year you will be removed from the Expert Roster.

What happens if you don’t want to provide your personal information?

Should you choose not to provide your personal information, we will be unable to determine your eligibility for inclusion on the Expert Roster, and your expression of interest will no longer be considered for this opportunity.

What happens to my personal information if I am not selected to be a part of the Expert Roster, or if I am removed from the Expert Roster?

PHAC will send annual messages to participants asking them to confirm their interest in remaining on the Expert Roster. Should PHAC not receive a response within one (1) year or if you have requested to be removed from the Roster, your personal information will be permanently deleted.

What are your rights?

You have the right to access and request a correction and/or notation to your personal information.  You also have a right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you feel your personal information has been handled improperly. For more information about these rights, or about how we handle your personal information, please contact ocsoengagement.bcsc@phac-aspc.gc.ca with your request.
