Complaints form for partisan advertising

When submitting your complaint, do not include any sensitive, confidential, or personal information about yourself or any other individual in your response. Complaints are intended to be collected anonymously and are not attributed to any one individual, so the Government of Canada reserves the right to delete any personal information collected in this survey in accordance with the Privacy Act.

1. The Government of Canada has criteria in place to ensure advertising is non-partisan. Please select which criteria you feel has not been met (select all that apply):

Information is presented objectively, in tone and content, and facts are expressed clearly and accurately

Creative materials do not contain any reference to a political event, or any slogan, distinctive expression, image, logo or graphic design that is used in the communications of a political party

Advertising creative materials do not give the general impression or appear to promote political party interests

Advertising creative materials do not contain the name, image or voice of any current Prime Minister, Minister of the Crown, Member of Parliament or Senator

Advertising creative materials are not self-congratulatory or self-praising in nature

Initiatives requiring parliamentary approval or trade agreements requiring ratification are not advertised until such approval has been received (for example, legislation has received royal assent)

The primary colour associated with the governing party is not used in a dominant way, unless an item is commonly depicted in that colour (a list of exceptions follows this question).

The colour restriction does not apply to:

common depictions of an object (for example, orange traffic cone, red poppy, blue recycling box)
Government of Canada assets with colours that are chosen based on tradition, safety, international convention or industry standard (for example, blue uniforms of the Royal Canadian Navy, RCMP red serge, orange search and rescue jumpsuits)
ads for national events and celebrations (for example, Canada Day, Team Canada) where the colours of the Canadian flag are prominent
