The personal information is collected under the authority of section 5 of the Department of the Environment Act and under the Financial Administration Act.

The information is collected, used and disclosed for the purpose of promotional activities that Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is undertaking in relation to the Products Containing Mercury Regulations (PCMR). The objective of the PCMR voluntary business reply form is to ask businesses and organizations to confirm their company details and contact information. This will help ECCC better understand their business and how they may be affected by the PCMR.

The personal information collected in the business reply form will be used to establish and compile a mailing list. This mailing list may be used to send information about the PCMR, to highlight future reporting deadlines, and to inform the regulated community of amendments to the PCMR.  The overall objective for collecting this information is to improve the awareness and understanding of the Regulations and to ensure continued communication with the regulatee. Please refrain from using personal identifying information in your responses. Your participation and decision to provide any information in the business reply form is voluntary.

The personal information created, held or collected by ECCC is protected under the Privacy Act. Information in the business reply form will be used, disclosed and retained in accordance with the conditions listed in the Personal Information Bank Outreach Activities PSU 938.
