Parks Canada Film and Television Request Form

Thank you for your interest in working with Parks Canada. To expedite the review and assessment of your film or television project, please complete the requested information below. A complete application must be submitted a minimum of 15 business days prior to the first proposed day of filming in order to provide sufficient time for review and approval. Parks Canada reserves the right to deny applications that do not support Parks Canada’s mandate, values and principles.

You are required to provide proof of comprehensive liability insurance policy indicating a minimum of $2,000,000 per incident, naming His Majesty the King in right of Canada as represented by the Parks Canada Agency as additional insured, to be carried for the duration of the production in the park. A permit will not be granted until your proof of insurance has been received by Parks Canada.

Important note: Parks Canada may require that film or television requests have a distribution arrangement in place. Film and television project proponents are required to sign a permit agreement prior to their work with Parks Canada. In projects that involve Parks Canada-administered places, Parks Canada requires film or television project proponents to apply for a film permit agreement. Support to film or television productions may be subject to provision of services contracts, which may require the requesting agency to pay for the support received.

The information you provide is collected under the authority of section 8 of the Canada National Parks Act for the issuance of administration and management of the filming permit application in various Parks Canada sites.

Participation in permit applications is voluntary. Refusal to provide personal information will prevent you from filming and taking pictures at Parks Canada sites.

The information you provide will be used to issue filming permits and for monitoring and controlling activities in Parks Canada sites to ensure that activities are consistent with the guidelines and procedures which comply with applicable legislation, policies and corporate priorities.

The information may also be used for policy analysis, research and/or evaluation purposes. However, these additional uses and/or disclosures of your personal information will never result in an administrative decision being made about you.

Your personal information is administered in accordance with the section 8 of the Parks Canada Agency Act, the Privacy Act and other applicable laws. You have the right to the protection of, access to, and correction of your personal information, which is described in the Parks Canada specific Personal Information Bank Resource Use Permits PC PPU 071. Section 3 – Aerial Photography / Filming

Activities involving aircraft, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs, or “drones”), are restricted under the Canada National Parks Act and National Parks of Canada Aircraft Access Regulations. Due to these restrictions, additional information and/or permissions will be required for all aerial photo/filming requests. Parks Canada will provide further direction upon receipt of such requests.

Parks Canada reserves the right to charge the non-refundable application fee upon receiving an application for a film licence. Fees must be received prior to photography activities. GST is included in all fees.

Depending on the scope, location and crew size associated with the project, monitoring fees (including overtime) may be charged to the production company in addition to the fees listed.
